This was my first Super D Matsuri. I used to watch the video Skuraweekly filmed covering Super D Matsuri when Naoki came over from japan. Seeing that and all the other amazing Super D events made me realize I had to go to one of these events to one spectate/photograph and to hopefully one day drive in one. During this particular weekend, my goal was to improve my photography especially in the motion blur department. A friend I made at the event, Daniel (@danwithacam) showed me how to maximize the abilities of my Sony A6000. After learning shutter speed and proper iso, I had a blast shooting the rest of the day.
Seeing C’s Garage shred this circuit as if it was their home circuit was very inspiring. I always saw Joel’s Onevia on the internet with that iconic photo, the Bn sports with massive Equip 05s on the rear. I didn’t begin following their endeavors until around 2020, when I finally saw the video of them and Animal Style driving together at Hampton Downs. Very cool cars and great noises.
The speed you can enter into the first corner is insane. Seeing cars go 60-70mph down the straight and then throw it completely backwards was a sight to see for sure. This purple 180 was very cool, sounded sick and had ideal fitment for a track weapon.

Moments like this were common over the course of the weekend. Many drivers were pushing their limits and found the limit sometimes, but that’s what this event is all about. Driving as hard as you can and pushing 110% is what makes this event so special and so fun to spectate.

As the top 16 comp went onto the night, we got the chance to shoot some sick photos. Apparently at AVS when the lights come on, media cannot be on track anymore due to safety. This event however was so busy that when the lights came on, we were still able to stay on track. It created a very unique experience to shoot a night comp especially when the cars are entering 15ft from you.
